CLOSING IN ON THE 'SAFE ZONE' OF THE TIGERS

DIV 55 seems to be the boys with the hot job of clearing out the LTTE remnants out of the safe zone in which they are holding a large number of civillians as a human shield. The specialized nature of the force is particularly suited for anti-terror operations in a crowded setting, and its leadership comprises mainly of the cream of SLA's tacticians.

Division 55 has the added advantage of being able to call upon coordinated diversionary attacks by the large force of other divisions covering all sides of the final theatre, while the LTTE is now left with the prospect of surrendering or facing annihilation. Contrary to the expectations of pro-LTTE lunatic fringe, the outside world and decision makers in India clearly do not care either way.

The SLN is also playing a crucial role in curtailing sea Tiger activities. Last evening they destroyed at least 4 sea tiger craft, killing 26 LTTE cadres in a single engagement.
